		ORDER GRANTING PETITION

BACKGROUND

1 On April 24, 2001, Cascade Natural Gas Corporation (Cascade), a Washington 
corporation, filed a  Petition to receive written authorization allowing the 
installation of a natural gas facility having a   maximum allowable operating 
pressure (maop) of 380 psig. WAC 480-93-030 prohibits the   operation of a 
facility having a maop between 251 psig and 499 psig within 100 feet of a 
proscribed  area, unless a waiver has been approved by the Commission.         
2 This matter was brought before the Commission at its regularly scheduled open 
meeting on May 9,  2001.  The Commissioners, having been fully advised in the 
matter, and having determined the   following order to be consistent with the 
public interest, directed the Secretary to enter the following  order and 
related provisions.   

DISCUSSION

3 United Rentals, 2045 East Bakerview Road in Bellingham, is requesting natural 
gas service from  Cascade to serve a workshop and warehouse located within the 
fenced property.  The service would  tap into an existing 8-inch high-pressure 
gas pipeline, operated by Cascade, with a maop of 380 psig  within 100 feet of 
the building requesting natural gas service.  Cascade has previously been 
issued a  waiver of   WAC 480-93-030, Docket UG-981502, allowing a facility 
with the maop between 251  psig and 499 psig to operate within 100 feet of a 
proscribed area.     
     FINDINGS OF FACT        
4 1.   The Commission is authorized to modify or waive a rule in accordance 
with WAC 480-93-030.          
5 2.   The proposed location of the meter set assembly was selected for the 
following reasons: 
  a. Inaccessible to the public 
  b. Low probability of being struck or damaged by a vehicle/equipment
  c. Area isolated from employee presence and operations.   
 
      ORDER             
6 IT IS HEREBY ORDERED That the request by Cascade Natural Gas Corporation for 
a waiver be  granted of WAC 480-93-030 allowing a facility with a maop of 380 
psig to operate within a   proscribed area.
