BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Less Than Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UW-971377 Connection with the Tariff ) Revision Filed by ) L.S.N. ORDER CANYON VILLAGE WATER SYSTEM, INC. ) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ) On September 11, 1997, Canyon Village Water System, Inc., (Company) filed with the Commission a revision to its currently effective Tariff WN U-1, designated as First Revision of Sheet No. 16 Canceling Original Sheet No. 16. The new tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of October 11, 1997. This date recognizes statutory notice as required. The Company requests, however, less than statutory notice and that the revision becomes effective October 1, 1997. To increase general rates, the Company has filed in this Docket UW-971377, to propose a different rate design than that proposed in Docket UW-971190, withdrawn. The rate design in Docket UW-971190 proposed to add the entire increase on the base charge. The proposed rate design adds less to the base charge and also increases the usage charge. Both rate designs allow for an estimated $7,800 general rate increase. Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just, reasonable, and sufficient, and less than statutory notice treatment is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the Company be granted the less than statutory notice treatment with an effective date of October 1, 1997. The Company will submit to the Commission quarterly reports of individual monthly usage. Quarterly reports are to be filed on an ongoing basis 30 days following the last day of each quarter, starting with the quarter ending December 31, 1997, and finishing with the quarter ending December 31, 1998. FINDINGS After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by Canyon Village Water System, Inc., September 11, 1997, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision should become effective October 1, 1997. O R D E R THE COMMISSION ORDERS: Docket UW-971377 Page 1 1. That the requested less than statutory notice treatment in connection with the tariff revision filed herein by Canyon Village Water System, Inc., September 11, 1997, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision shall become effective October 1, 1997. 2. The Company will submit to the Commission quarterly reports of individual monthly customer usage. Quarterly reports are to be filed on an ongoing basis 30 days following the last day of each quarter, starting with the quarter ending December 31, 1997, and finishing with the quarter ending December 31, 1998. 3. This order shall in no way affect the authority of the Commission over rates, service, or accounts, evaluations, estimates, or determination of cost or any matters whatsoever that may come before it, nor shall anything herein be construed as an acquiescence in any estimate or determination of cost or any valuation of property claimed or asserted.
