BACKGROUND      

1 On April 5, 2001, the Commission received a petition from Waste Management of 
Washington, Inc.,  G-237, (Waste Management), doing business in the state of 
Washington as:

 Waste Management – Northwest;
 Waste Management – Sno-King;
 Waste Management – Rainier;
 Nick Raffo Garbage Company;
 R.S.T. Disposal Company;
 Federal Way Disposal Company;
 Rural Skagit Sanitation;
 Stanwood-Camano Disposal;
 Waste Management of Ellensburg;
 Waste Management of Greater Wenatchee;
 Waste Management of Kennewick;
 Waste Management of Spokane;
 Western Refuse Company;
 Valley Garbage Service, Inc.; and
 Olson's Sanitation Service, Inc.                                     


2 Waste Management's petition requests the Commission grant an exemption to the 
provisions WAC  480-70-071(1)(b) that require solid waste collection companies 
to file an annual report of financial  and operational activity by May 1.  The 
petition requests Waste Management be granted an extension  until July 1, 2001, 
to file the company's 2000 annual report.  The petition was accompanied by a  
check remitting to the Commission estimated 2001 regulatory fees.
 
3 WAC 480-70-071(1)(c) provides that:  

 The Commission may grant an extension of time allowing the company to file its 
annual report after the May due date if the Commission receives a request for 
extension by May 1.

FINDINGS

4 The Commissioners have reviewed the petition and have been fully advised in 
the matter.  They   believe granting the petition is in the public interest, 
and direct the Secretary to issue the Order.

O R D E R

5 THE COMMISSION ORDERS:

6 Waste Management of Washington, Inc., is granted an exemption to the 
provisions of WAC   480-70-071(1)(b) and is granted an extension until July 1, 
2001, to file the company's 2000 annual  report of financial and operational 
activity.
