BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested Waiver of Statutory Notice in Connection with the Tariff Revisions Filed by Puget Sound Energy . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ) ) ) ) ) ) ) ) DOCKET UE-010915 ORDER GRANTING LESS THAN STATUTORY NOTICE BACKGROUND 1 On June 22, 2001, Puget Sound Energy (PSE) filed with the Commission revisions to its currently effective Tariff WN U-60, designated as First Revised Sheet No. 448-q and First Revised Sheet No. 449-q. The purpose of this filing is to update Schedule 448, Power Supply Choice, and Schedule 449 Retail Wheeling Service with a revision of Distribution Loss Factors. Due to a recalculation these factors are being adjusted downward. 2 WAC 480-80-070 requires thirty days’ notice prior to the effective date of the tariff. The tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of June 28, 2001. This date does not recognize statutory notice as required. However, the Company requests that statutory notice be waived as authorized in WAC 480-80-240, and that the revisions become effective June 28, 2001, for Less Than Statutory Notice Approval. PSE argues that certain customers are about to elect service under Schedules 448 or 449 and the revision will have impact upon them. 3 Since the proposed tariff revisions appear to be fair, just, and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is appropriate that the Commission grant the waiver PSE requests with an effective date of June 28, 2001. FINDINGS 4 (1) After careful examination of the proposed tariff revisions filed by PSE on June 22, 2001, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the proposed tariff revisions should become effective June 28, 2001. 5 (2) This matter was brought before the Commission at its regularly scheduled open meeting on June 27, 2001. The Commissioners, having been fully advised in the matter, and having determined this order to be consistent with the public interest, directed the Secretary to enter this order. O R D E R 6 THE COMMISSION GRANTS the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff revisions filed by PSE on June 22, 2001, and the tariff revisions shall become effective on June 28, 2001. DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 27th day of June, 2001. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION CAROLE J. WASHBURN, Secretary
