BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the matter of the Requested Waiver of Required Notice in Connection with an amendment to an existing Contract for Centranet Service filed by Verizon Northwest Inc. ____________________________________ ) ) ) ) ) ) DOCKET UT-010547 ORDER APPROVING AN AMENDMENT TO A CONTRACT ON LESS THAN REQUIRED NOTICE On April 19, 2001, Verizon Northwest Inc. (Verizon) filed with the Commission under its Contract No. 1202, an amendment (No. 4) to a contract for Centranet Service. WAC 480-80-330 requires thirty days notice prior to the effective date. The company requests, however, that such notice be waived and that the contract become effective May 10, 2001. The contract is for Centranet service, and will expire in approximately seventy-six (76) months. Verizon requests waiver of the required notice date so that the targeted effective date of the amemdment No. 4 to the contract of May 10, 2001, can be achieved. Since the contract amendment filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of required notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of May 10, 2001. FINDINGS After careful examination of the contract amendment filed herein by Verizon Northwest Inc. on April 19, 2001, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the contract amendment should become effective on May 10, 2001. This matter was brought before the Commission at its regularly scheduled open meeting on May 9, 2001. The Commissioners, having been fully advised in the matter, and having determined this order to be consistent with the public interest, directed the Secretary to enter this order. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of required notice in connection with the contract amendment filed herein by Verizon Northwest Inc. on April 19, 2001, is hereby granted, and said contract shall become effective on May 10, 2001. DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 9th day of May, 2001. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION CAROLE J. WASHBURN Secretary
