DOCKET UT-980437 Page 1 BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Waiver of Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UT-980437 Connection with the Tariff ) Revision to Tariff WN U-17 Filed ) ORDER GRANTING LESS by GTE Northwest Incorporated ) THAN STATUTORY NOTICE ) On March 18, 1998, GTE Northwest Incorporated (GTE-NW) filed with the Commission under its Advice No. 831, a revision to its currently effective Tariff WN U-17, designated as 2nd Revised Sheet 104. The tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of April 17, 1998. This date recognizes statutory notice as required. The company requests, however, that statutory notice be waived and that the revision become effective April 9, 1998. The tariff revision was filed to increase the amount of the Subscriber Line Credits for GTE-NW's CentraNet customers in Tariff WN U-17. This change is an offset to the increase of the Federal Subscriber Line Charge which went into effect on February 5, 1998. GTE-NW is requesting less than statutory notice for this filing so that it can pass on the increased credit to its CentraNet customers as soon as possible. Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of April 9, 1998. FINDINGS After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by GTE Northwest Incorporated on March 18, 1998, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision should become effective on April 9, 1998. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff revision filed herein by GTE Northwest Incorporated on March 18, 1998, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision shall become effective on April 9, 1998. DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 8th day of April, 1998. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION PAUL CURL, Acting Secretary
