  On November 14, 1997, GTE Northwest Incorporated filed with the Commission a 
revision to its currently effective tariff WN U-17, designated as 8th Revised 
Sheet 7.1.


  The tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of December 18, 1997.  This 
date recognizes statutory notice as required.  The company requests, however, 
that statutory notice be waived and that the revision become effective November 
28, 1997.

  The purpose of the filing is to remove an Additional Residential Network 
Access Line NCR Waiver sales promotion scheduled for December 1, 1997 through 
December 31, 1997.

  The reason for requesting LSN is in order to remove the promotional offering 
before it becomes effective on December 1, 1997.

  Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and 
waiver of statutory notice is not inconsis- tent with the public interest, it 
is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting 
with an effective date of November 28, 1997.

FINDINGS

  After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by GTE 
Northwest Incorporated on November 14, 1997, and giving consideration to all 
relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff 
revisions should become effective November 28, 1997.

O R D E R

  THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice 
in connection with the tariff revi-sion filed herein by GTE Northwest 
Incorporated on November 14, 1997, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision 
shall become effec- tive November 28, 1997.
