BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Waiver of Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UT-001414 Connection with the Tariff ) Revision to Tariff WN U-20 Filed ) ORDER GRANTING LESS by Verizon Northwest Inc. ) THAN STATUTORY NOTICE BACKGROUND On September 18, 2000, Verizon Northwest Inc. (Verizon) filed with the Commission under its Advice No. 948, a revision to its currently effective Tariff WN U-20, designated as follows: 2nd Revised Table of Contents Sheet 4 2nd Revised Sheet 52 2nd Revised Sheet 61 1st Revised Sheet 65 The revision reflects the removal of Building Modification Nonrecurring Charges and central office mapping provisions from the tariff. The tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of October 18, 2000. This date recognizes statutory notice as required. The company requests, however, that statutory notice be waived and that the revision become effective September 28, 2000. Verizon is requesting the earlier effective date to meet customer needs at the earliest possible date. Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of September 28, 2000. This matter was brought before the Commission at its September 27, 2000, regularly scheduled open meeting. The Commissioners, having been fully advised in the matter, and having determined the following order to be consistent with the public interest, directed the Secretary to enter the following order and related provisions. FINDINGS After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by Verizon Northwest Inc. on September 18, 2000, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision should become effective on September 28, 2000. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff revision filed herein by Verizon Northwest Inc. on September 18, 2000, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision shall become effective on September 28, 2000.
