BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Less than Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UT-001394 Connection with the Tariff ) Revisions Filed by ) ORDER GRANTING LESS United Telephone Company of the Northwest ) THAN STATUTORY NOTICE ) ) BACKGROUND On September 13, 2000, United Telephone Company of the Northwest, filed with the Commission under its Advice No. 331, revisions to its currently effective Tariff WN U-2, designated as: Schedule AE-9 12th Revised Sheet 1 1st Revised Sheet 2 The tariff sheets bear an inserted effective date of October 13, 2000. This date recognizes statutory notice as required. The Company requests, however, that statutory notice be waived and that the revisions become effective October 1, 2000. The purpose of this filing is to implement FCC Order No.00-332. The order requires rate reductions for Lifeline eligible persons residing on Tribal Reservations. The FCC order stayed a portion of an earlier Order and reduced the scope of the enhanced Lifeline program. This tariff makes revisions that reflect the narrower application of the enhanced Lifeline program . The reason for requesting less than statutory notice is to comply with FCC requirements issued in FCC Order No. 00-332. Since the tariff revisions filed herein are fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the Company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of October 1, 2000. This matter was brought before the Commission at its September 27, 2000, regularly scheduled open meeting. The Commissioners, having been fully advised in the matter, and having determined the following order to be consistent with RCW 80.08.040 directed the Secretary to enter the following order and related provisions. FINDINGS After careful examination of the tariff revisions filed herein by United Telephone Company of the Northwest, on September 13, 2000, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revisions should become effective October 1, 2000. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That less than statutory notice in connection with the tariff revisions filed herein by United Telephone Company of the Northwest, on September 13, 2000, is hereby granted, and said tariff revisions shall become effective October 1, 2000. DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 27th day of September, 2000. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION CAROLE J. WASHBURN Executive Secretary
