		NOTICE



BACKGROUND
  
 On August 16, 2000, Verizon Northwest Inc. (Verizon) filed with the Commission 
under its Contract No. 1184, a contract amendment for DS-1 Service for a 
twelve-month period.

 WAC 480-80-330 requires thirty days notice prior to the effective date of the 
contract.  The Company requests, however, that such notice be waived and that 
the contract amendment become effective August 31, 2000.  Verizon requests 
waiver of the required notice date so that the targeted effective date of the 
contract amendment of August 31, 2000, can be achieved.

 Since the contract filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of 
required notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed 
appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an 
effective date of August 31, 2000.

 This matter was brought before the Commission at its August 30, 2000, 
regularly scheduled open meeting.  The Commissioners, having been fully advised 
in the matter, and having determined the following order to be consistent with 
the public interest, directed the Secretary to enter the following order and 
related provisions.

FINDINGS

 After careful examination of the contract filed herein by Verizon Northwest 
Inc. on August 16, 2000, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and 
for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the contract should become 
effective on August 31, 2000.


            O R D E R

 THE COMMISSION ORDERS That the requested waiver of required notice in 
connection with the contract filed herein by Verizon Northwest Inc. on August 
16, 2000, is hereby granted, and said contract shall become effective on August 
31, 2000.
