BACKGROUND

  On November 16, 1999, Puget Sound Energy filed tariff revisions with the 
Commission designated as:

   Seventy-Fourth Revision Sheet No. 1102
   Canceling
   Seventy-Third Revision Sheet No. 1102,

   Eighth Revision Sheet No. S-1
   Canceling
   Seventh Revision Sheet No. S-1

  On November 16, 1999, Puget Sound Energy filed to incorporate the reduction 
necessary for Schedule 16 (Gas Lighting Service) to reflect the revision to the 
Purchase Gas Cost Adjustment (PGA) recently completed in Docket UG-991503. 
Substitute tariff sheets were submitted in Docket UG-991503 to reflect the 
revised and agreed upon level of prospective gas costs. However, the revised 
rate change to effect Schedule 16 was inadvertently omitted.

  The tariff sheets bear an inserted effective date of December 17, 1999. This 
date recognizes statutory notice as required.  Since this is a reduction in 
rates to this schedule the company requests that statutory notice be waived and 
that the revisions become effective December 1, 1999. 

DISCUSSION

  From all indications, it appears to be in the public interest to accommodate 
the request.

  Since the tariff revisions filed herein are fair, just and reasonable, and 
waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is 
deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with 
an effective date of December 1, 1999.

FINDINGS

  After careful examination of the tariff revisions filed herein by Puget Sound 
Energy on November 16, 1999, and giving consideration to all relevant matters 
and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revisions should 
become effective December 1, 1999.

O R D E R

  THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS:

  That the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff 
revisions filed herein by Puget Sound Energy on November 16, 1999, is hereby 
granted, and said tariff revisions shall become effective December 1, 1999.
