BC-118 . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ) ) ) ) ) ) DOCKET TS-991429 ORDER AUTHORIZING CARRIER TO DISCONTINUE SERVICE CALLED FOR UNDER ITS CERTIFICATE On September 15, 1999, Puget Sound Express, Inc., BC-118, filed a petition with the Washington Utilities and Transportation Commission requesting permission to temporarily discontinue service called for under its certificate. Specifically, the carrier requested authority to discontinue passenger and freight service between Friday Harbor and Port Townsend for a period from September 9, 1999, to October 10, 1999. In its request, the carrier stated that the temporary discontinuance is required due to the request from the Washington State Ferries to provide emergency foot passenger service between Orcas Island and Shaw Island. In its petition to temporarily discontinue service the carrier stated that it has provided adequate and proper notice to its customers in compliance with the provisions of WAC 480-51-130. Pursuant to review of the petition and recommendations, the Commission finds that the carrier should be allowed to discontinue service between Friday Harbor and Port Townsend from September 9, 1999, to October 10, 1999. O R D E R IT IS ORDERED That Puget Sound Express, Inc., BC-118, is authorized to discontinue service called for under its certificate of public convenience and necessity. The route be discontinued effective September 9, 1999, with service to be resumed not later than October 10, 1999.
