DOCKET UT-981318 Page 1 BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Waiver of Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UT-981318 Connection with the Tariff ) Revision Filed by ) ORDER GRANTING U S WEST COMMUNICATIONS, INC. ) LESS THAN ...................................) STATUTORY NOTICE On October 15, 1998, U S WEST Communications, Inc., filed with the Commission under its Advice No. 2986T, a revision to its currently effective tariff sheets to remove 1-800 U S WEST Calling Service from the Exchange and Network Services Tariffs in WN U-31. The tariff sheets bear an inserted effective date of November 16, 1998. This date recognizes statutory notice as required. The company requests, however, that the statutory notice be waived and that the revision becomes effective October 30, 1998. The reason for requesting LSN is to ensure that customers will not experience an interruption in service since the current 1-800 U S WEST Calling Service has a sunset date of October 30, 1998. The 1-800 U S WEST Calling Service has been moved into the Exchange and Network Service Price List. This tariff revision complies with the Commission Order in Docket No. UT-980630 which grants U S WEST’s petition for competitively classification of its Calling Card service. Since the tariff revision filed therein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of October 30, 1998. FINDINGS THE COMMISSION FINDS: After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by U S WEST Communications, Inc., October 15, 1998, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision should become effective October 30, 1998. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff revision filed herein by U S WEST Communications, Inc., October 15, 1998, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision shall become effective October 30, 1998. DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 28th day of October, 1998. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION CAROLE J. WASHBURN Executive Secretary
