DOCKET UG-981059 Page 1 BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Waiver of Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UG-981059 Connection with the Tariff ) Revision Filed by ) ORDER GRANTING LESS CASCADE NATURAL GAS. ) THAN STATUTORY NOTICE ) On August 5, 1998, Cascade Natural Gas Corporation (Cascade) filed with the Commission a revision to its currently effective Tariff WN U-3, designated as Third Revision Sheet No. 678. The proposed special contract bears an effective date of the first day of the calendar month in which the Commission approves the contract to become effective. Cascade recognizes that this is less than statutory notice, hence it requests that statutory notice be waived and that the special contract become effective with Commission approval on August 26, 1998. The purpose for filing is to establish a special contract for gas transportation for Puget Sound Energy for its Fredonia facility. The reason for requesting LSN is to facilitate the customer's ability to capture benefits from the market place for energy sources. Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that Cascade be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of August 26, 1998. FINDINGS After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by Cascade Natural Gas Company, August 5, 1998, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision should become effective August 26, 1998. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff revision filed herein by Cascade Natural Gas Company, August 5, 1998, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision shall become effective August 26, 1998 DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 26th day of August, 1998.
