BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Waiver of Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UT-980920 Connection with the Tariff ) Revisions Filed by ) ORDER GRANTING RAINIER CONNECT, INC. ) LESS THAN STATUTORY ) NOTICE . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ) On July 2, 1998, Rainier Connect, Inc., filed with the Commission, revisions to its Tariff WN U-1 . The purpose of this filing is to amend the tariff by reducing the rate for inbound 800/888 service and to add two new intrastate long distance flat rate calling plans. The tariff sheets bear an inserted effective date of August 2, 1998. This date recognizes statutory notice as required. The company requests, however, that statutory notice be waived and that the revisions become effective July 23, 1998. The reason for requesting LSN is to implement a rate reduction and offer multiple long distance calling plans as soon as possible. Since the tariff revisions filed herein appear to be fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of July 23, 1998. FINDINGS After careful examination of the tariff revisions filed herein by Rainier Connect, Inc., July 2, 1998, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revisions should become effective July 23, 1998. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff revisions filed herein by Rainier Connect, Inc., July 2, 1998, is hereby granted, and said tariff revisions shall become effective July 23, 1998. DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 22nd day of July, 1998. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION CAROLE J. WASHBURN, Secretary
