  On March 6, 1998, U S WEST Communications, Inc. (USWC), filed with the 
Commission revisions to its Tariff WN U-31 . The purpose of this filing is to 
make revisions to certain rates associated with Centrex services offered by the 
company. 

  The tariff sheets bear an inserted effective date of April 6, 1998.  This 
date recognizes statutory notice as required under RCW 80.36.110.  The company 
requests, however, that statutory notice be waived and that the revisions 
become effective March 12, 1998.
 
  USWC requests approval of its tariff on less than statutory notice (LSN) to 
permit the requested changes to become effective in concert with the company's 
Centrex 21 Service filing (Docket No. UT-980166), if approved by the Commission 
at its Open Meeting on March 11, 1998. Should the Commission reject Docket No. 
UT-980166, the company will withdraw Docket No. UT-980295.

  Since the tariff revisions filed herein are fair, just, and reasonable, and 
because it is in the public interest that tariff revisions in this docket take 
effect at the same time as the tariff revisions in Docket No. UT-980166, the 
Commission finds that there is sufficient cause for granting the waiver 
requested by the company.


FINDINGS

  After careful examination of the tariff revisions filed herein by U S WEST 
Communications, Inc., on March 6, 1998, and giving consideration to all 
relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff 
revisions should become effective March 12, 1998, contingent upon approval of 
the tariff revisions filed in Docket No. UT-980166.






O R D E R

  THE COMMISSION ORDERS that the requested waiver of statutory notice in 
connection with the tariff revisions filed herein by U S WEST Communications, 
Inc., on March 6, 1998, is hereby granted, and said tariff revisions shall 
become effective March 12, 1998.

  DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 11th day of March, 1998.
