WAC 480-80-330 requires thirty days notice prior to the effective date from the date filed. The company requests, however, that such notice be waived and that the contract become effective August 14, 1997. The purpose of this filing is to provide Secondary Transport Services for the K-20 Educational Telecommunications Network in conjunction with an agreement between U S WEST Communications, Inc., and the State of Washington’s Department of Information Services. The Company seeks an effective date for this special contract on less than statutory notice at the request of the customer. Since the contract filed herein is fair, just, reasonable, and sufficient, and waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, in view of the above, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting and an effective date of August 14, 1997. FINDINGS After careful examination of the contract filed herein by U S WEST Communications, Inc., on July 31, 1997, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the contract should become effective August 14, 1997. ORDER THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of required notice in connection with the contract filed herein by U S WEST Communications, Inc., on July 31, 1997, is hereby granted, and said contract shall become effective August 14, 1997. DATED at Olympia, Washington and effective this 13th day of August, 1997. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION STEVE McLELLAN Secretary
