  On April 16, 1997, Pend Oreille Telephone Company (Company or POTC), filed 
with the Commission under its Advice No. 002 a revision to its currently 
effective Tariff WN U-2, designated as the 1st Revised Sheet No. 3 - Section 1.

  The tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of May 16, 1997.  This date 
recognizes statutory notice as required. The Company requests, however, that 
statutory notice be waived, and that the revision become effective April 24, 
1997.

  The purpose of this filing is to provide a rate additive element in the 
company's access tariff which will be used to recover a short-fall in POTC's 
revenue requirement for access service.  This rate additive will be used on an 
interim basis until such time as POTC is incorporated into the WECA carrier 
common line pool.

  The Company requests an effective date which is less than statutory notice in 
order to meet Commission Staff's requested effective date.  

  Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just, and reasonable, and 
waiver of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, it is 
deemed appropriate that the Company be granted the waiver it is requesting with 
an effective date of April 24, 1997.





FINDINGS

  After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by Pend Oreille 
Telephone Company on April 16, 1997, and giving consideration to all relevant 
matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision 
should become effective April 24, 1997.


O R D E R

  THE COMMISSION ORDERS that the requested waiver of statutory notice in 
connection with the tariff revision in Advice No. 002 filed herein by Pend 
Oreille Telephone Company on 
April 16, 1997, is granted, and said tariff revision shall become effective 
April 24, 1997.
