		ORDER GRANTING LESS THAN STATUTORY NOTICE
On March 7, 1997, Stroh Water Company, Inc., filed with the Commission a 
revision to its currently effective tariff WN U-1, designated as Original 
Tariff Sheet Number 23.   

The tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of April 7, 1997.  This date 
recognizes statutory notice as required.  The company requests, however, that 
statutory notice be waived and that the revision become effective April 1, 
1997. 

The filing is to recover a city tax.  The City of Gig Harbor has annexed two 
areas within the service area of Stroh Water Company, Inc.  The customers 
within this annexed area are subject to a 5% city tax.

The city tax became effective February 10, 1997, in one of the annexed areas.  
The effective date for the tax in the latest annex is March 24, 1997.  

Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver 
of statutory notice is not inconsistent with the public interest, in view of 
the above, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it 
is requesting and an effective date April 1, 1997.  
F I N D I N G S

After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by Stroh Water 
Company, Inc., March 7, 1997, and giving consideration to all relevant matters 
and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision should 
become effective April 1, 1997.

O R D E R

THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice 
in connection with the tariff revision filed herein by Stroh Water Company, 
Inc., March 7, 1997, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision shall become 
effective April 1, 1997.  

IT IS ORDERED That after the effective date of this order Stroh Water Company, 
Inc., is hereby granted, and said tariff revision will become effective April 
1, 1997.
