BEFORE THE WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION In the Matter of the Requested ) Waiver of Statutory Notice in ) DOCKET UT-000908 Connection with the Tariff ) Revision to Tariff WN U-17 Filed ) ORDER GRANTING LESS by GTE Northwest Incorporated ) THAN STATUTORY NOTICE . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . ) On June 13, 2000, GTE Northwest Incorporated (GTE-NW) filed with the Commission under its Advice No. 930, a revision to its currently effective Tariff WN U-17, designated as 3rd Revised Sheet 37 and 3rd Revised Sheet 37.4 in Section 2. The revision reflects an increase in the Lifeline/Washington Telephone Assistance Program (WTAP) credit. The tariff sheet bears an inserted effective date of July 16, 2000. This date recognizes statutory notice as required. The company requests, however, that statutory notice be waived and that the revision become effective July 1, 2000. GTE-NW is requesting less than statutory notice for this filing so that it can be effective on the date the FCC increases the cap on the Federal Primary Residence End User Subscriber Line Charge from $3.50 to $4.35. Since the tariff revision filed herein is fair, just and reasonable, and waiver of statutory notice is consistent with the public interest, it is deemed appropriate that the company be granted the waiver it is requesting with an effective date of July 1, 2000. This matter was brought before the Commission at its June 28, 2000, regularly scheduled open meeting. The Commissioners, having been fully advised in the matter, and having determined the following order to be consistent with the public interest, directed the Secretary to enter the following order and related provisions. FINDINGS After careful examination of the tariff revision filed herein by GTE Northwest Incorporated on June 13, 2000, and giving consideration to all relevant matters and for good cause shown, the Commission finds that the tariff revision should become effective on July 1, 2000. O R D E R THE COMMISSION THEREFORE ORDERS That the requested waiver of statutory notice in connection with the tariff revision filed herein by GTE Northwest Incorporated on June 13, 2000, is hereby granted, and said tariff revision shall become effective on July 1, 2000. DATED at Olympia, Washington, and effective this 28th day of June, 2000. WASHINGTON UTILITIES AND TRANSPORTATION COMMISSION CAROLE J. WASHBURN Secretary
