UT 980311 R QUESTIONS RELATED TO SUPPORT FOR HIGH-COST TELEPHONE LINES Thank you for this opportunity to file comments on Universal Service. High cost of service extension, although this community is within one half mile of a telephone company line, has excluded us from the telecommunications that most people take for granted. This is a collective response and I request that you add this to your file on the Libby Creek residents. Yes, continue policy of universal service, and include our situation in your problem solving process.. One residence and one business line are essential to most people at this time…. Home business is a key to living in rural areas and access to two lines per household is a reasonable baseline for Universal Service Support. 3a. Affordable rate = $20 3b. Unaffordable =over $30 4a. $20 4b. over $30 5a. $50 5b. over $50 Universal Service relates to public benefit and all rates should go up to pay for part of costs. 46a. Support should reflect actual expenditures….Yes….Documentation on a case-by-case basis would provide accountability and keep situations like our from remaining unresolved. This is crucial…referring to question #13….Resolving the situation on Libby Creek, where carriers have agreed to provide service, but unreasonable costs continue to exclude us from telephone service.
